Find the computer that has it installed.

If it's not on, turn it on.

Jiggle the mouse in case it is just 'sleeping', if you have to boot it, a book might be faster, but if you're here before your child, push the 'on' button on the machine (ask someone if you can't find it) and wait for the computer to come up. This make take a couple of minutes. |

Start the Encarta Program.

Start, Program, Encarta (and wait for it to start... again, this may take awhile, so do it before your child arrives). |

Find the dictionary you want.

Click on 'dictionary' and select whether you want the English dictionary or one of the bilingual ones. |

Look up the word.

Type in the word in the text box and hit carriage return. |
